Not far from were I live in Minneapolis is one of the great wildernesses areas in America, the Mississippi River, which flows right through out city. Part of that wilderness is the Mississippi River Gorge. When you’re on the water there, the outside world falls away. I almost lost my life in the Mississippi River Gorge, but it’s still a place I love. And recently I had several stories out about the the section I know best, including a “Fastest Known Paddle” I set there. Here are the stories:
