It was really gratifying to see my story, my story, The Epic Battle to Break the Mississippi River Canoe Record make the list of “Notable Sports Writing of 2021” in the Year’s Best Sports Writing. Very pleased to be mentioned in this great anthology, in good company.

Having spent a few years working on this story (and having risked my life as part of the MMZERO support crew) I was also happy to see the story make the list of “The Greatest Outside Adventure Stories Ever Told.” This was particularly gratifying, since I read some of these stories for inspiration while I was writing mine.

Next year? We’ll see what happens this spring, when Scott Miller and his new team make another attempt on the record in the spring.
