Alex Hutchinson’s: The Explorer’s Gene

Last year, I was thrilled when Alex Hutchinson generously agreed to write the foreward for my new book Pushing the River. Hutchinson is the author of the running classic book, Endure: Mind, Body. Alex is the author of Endure: Mind, Body, and the Curiously Elastic Limits of Human Performance. (He’s also a very nice guy.) The piece he wrote was beautiful meditation on canoeing and it was perfect for Pushing the River. Recently, and he included the book in his The 2025 Sweat Science Summer Book List, which was so nice to see, and good company to be in:

Well Alex also has a great new book out: The Explorer’s Gene: Why We Seek Big Challenges, New Flavors, and the Blank Spots on the Map. It’s a deep dive into restlessness, exploration, and the thing that make us want to see what’s over the next hill.

So if you like canoeing, running, climbing, exploring or any kind of adventure, this is the book for you.Thank you, Alex! And may The Explorer’s Gene scale the heights of the bestseller lists!
